Covid-19 Resiliency
Covid-19 sunk its teeth into my budding business, devoured my workload, and licked my calendar clean. It snuck up on me unsuspected: pounced on my newfound confidence and wrestled me down to a dark place of uncertainty. Who am I to start a business? I shouldn’t complain; others have it way worse. One thing I know for sure is starting a business in a pandemic is the ultimate resiliency training ground. Here are a couple of tactics I’m using to make the most of the mauling.
RE-FRAME
I re-framed my perspective on a few things. If prosperity meant time with my family, I was rich! Instead of thinking I would rather be busy with work projects, I started thinking about how blessed I was to spend time with my husband and 2-year old son. We spent our days working in the yard, cooking, and going on adventures outside.
LEARNING
I took Marie Forleo’s B-school and did a deep dive into online marketing strategies. Through B-school, I connected with an online community of thousands of entrepreneurs struggling with some of the same issues. I invested in online training programs about content creation, SEO, and keyword strategy.
LETTING GO
Coronavirus reminded me to let go of things out of my control. I slowed down, listened, and tried to understand how my strengths could be of service now. How could I pivot my focus and not get stuck in old expectations. Some days are easier than others. When I feel like giving up, I keep re-framing, learning, and letting go.
